Fact: before winter holidays people tend to spend the most. Whether these are presents for friends and family or business affairs that your clients will aim to finalise before New Year.
Over 2.4 billion people use Facebook monthly and 1 billion are on Instagram. And it doesn’t seem like Marc Zuckerberg is retiring any time soon.
To show off their new office on Rathbone Square in London, Facebook invited marketing professionals and business owners to discuss how to optimise business pages on its channels and get ready to the festive season ahead.
1. Update and review your page content
Make sure all contact details are up-to-date. You don’t want your customers to call the wrong number and go to the web page that doesn’t work.
Refresh the look. Change the cover photo to correspond with the upcoming season, add new pictures of your products, services and even your shop or office.
Ask your loyal client to share a word about your business: write a review or even make a recommendation.
Check whether you have chosen the right category for your business page. It will make it easier for your potential clients to find you
Enable call-to-action buttons: message / shop now / sign up
2. Stay organised and plan ahead
It is especially difficult if you don’t have a dedicated person or an agency to look after your social media.
If this is the case, pick one or two spare evenings to fill in a calendar of your posts. Your business activity (new product launch, sales campaign), big holidays, events that you attend and the host should help when thinking about the content.
And don’t forget the 80/20 rule: more useful information, less open advertising.
You can also draft and schedule posts ahead of time via Facebook or other applications that also offer plenty of additional features to manage your social media.
3. Attract customers
According to Deloitte Retail Trends 2019, social media became a place where customers go to find ideas and inspiration. Make your business become one!
When sharing photos or video remember to:
Keep it simple: keep in mind what you want to convey to your customers and do not overcomplicate the message.
Keep it consistent. Stick to your branding: colours, filters, fonts, tone of voice.
Get attention quickly. You have only 3 seconds to make your client stop scrolling through the feed.
Use stories. According to Facebook, 62% of people become more interested in a brand or product after seeing it in stories.
4. Interact with customers
Get into the festive spirit: share season’s greetings, thank your followers. You can even share photos of your office with the decorations.
Enable messages. Around 20bn messages are being sent monthly between people and businesses on Messenger.
If it gets too busy create quick replies to the most common questions and use “away messages” to manage your clients' expectations.
5. Act, learn, adjust, repeat
Facebook and Instagram offer free analytics. It is not perfect but allows you to see the results of your hard work, define the most and least efficient actions and make changes accordingly.
When investing money in advertising and striving for organic growth get to know your audience, have a clear understanding of who you are trying to reach, what they like and what they will be interested in.
